Blackjack at Casino Nova Scotia Halifax
Our blackjack floor is inside the downtown Halifax property at 1983 Upper Water Street, right on the waterfront. It sits in the heart of the city, and over the years we have seen that most guests find it without much trouble. If you arrive expecting a single type of blackjack and one flat table minimum, you generally walk into a bit more variety than that.
On the live floor we spread classic blackjack alongside Blackjack with the Kings Bounty side bet. Kings Bounty lets you put a separate wager down on the dealer’s up card before the hand begins, and some regulars come in specifically for that feature. Blackjack Switch has also shown up on our floor directories, giving players another twist on the standard rules. If you count the video blackjack terminals on the machines, that adds up to four formats running under our roof.
Table games start up at noon every single day. There are no exceptions to that schedule. It matters if you arrive earlier, because you will see slot machines active but no live blackjack until the dealers are in their seats. On weekend nights the sessions run late - table games stay open until 6 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, while from Sunday through Thursday they close at 4 a.m. For Atlantic Canada, our table game floor is among the later ones still dealing at night.
Minimum age for entry is 19. Security checks government-issued photo ID at the door, so guests are cleared well before they sit at a blackjack table.
| Blackjack Variant | Format | Side Bet Available |
|---|---|---|
| Classic Blackjack | Live table | No |
| Blackjack w Kings Bounty | Live table | Yes - Kings Bounty |
| Blackjack Switch | Live table | No |
| Video Blackjack | Electronic machine | No |
Player reports on public forums usually place our live blackjack minimums around the CAD 10-15 mark, with video blackjack machines often mentioned at roughly CAD 5 per hand. These numbers do not come from an official limit sheet; they are based on what guests have shared from their own visits. Table limits adjust with traffic, time and events, so the sensible move is to call ahead if limits are important to your plan.
Getting to the Tables and Reaching Us
The casino is set right in the downtown core of Halifax, close enough that most downtown hotels and the central business district are within a short walk or ride. Once you are inside, the table games section sits apart from the roughly 500 slot machines, so it does not take long to pick out where the blackjack tables are running.
If you want to check current limits, which blackjack variants are on the floor, or anything else before you arrive, our main Halifax contact number is (902) 425-7777. We also operate a toll-free line at 1-888-6GAMES6 that routes you to our general guest services team. If you prefer to write, questions can be sent by email to [email protected].
Our poker room works with its own contact details. For bookings, waiting lists, or schedule questions, guests should call (902) 496-6166 or send an email to [email protected]. The poker room normally operates from noon to 2 a.m. on weekdays and noon to 4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. That gives poker slightly shorter hours than the full table game floor where blackjack is offered.
Operating Hours - The Full Schedule
Planning a blackjack visit without taking a moment to check when we are open can easily turn into a wasted trip. Over time we have learned that clear hours avoid a lot of frustration, so here is how our weekly schedule is organized:
- Sunday through Thursday - casino open 10 a.m. to 4 a.m.
- Friday and Saturday - casino open 24 hours.
- Table games open every day at noon.
- Table games close at 4 a.m. from Sunday to Thursday.
- Table games close at 6 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
- Poker room open noon to 2 a.m. on weekdays, noon to 4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
- Closed on Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Remembrance Day, and Christmas Day.
Friday and Saturday evenings give you the longest single window to play at the blackjack tables. If you are planning a longer session and have some flexibility with your timing, those nights are usually the more practical choice.
